IIAS_logoThe International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS) is a research and exchange platform based in Leiden, the Netherlands. It encourages the multidisciplinary and comparative study of Asia, and actively promotes national and international co-operation. IIAS acts as a global mediator, bringing together academic and non-academic institutes in Asia and other parts of the world, including cultural, social and policy organisations. Without excluding other possibly interesting research areas in Asian studies, the focus is on urbanisation, heritage and globalisation.

AUP has a longstanding relationship with the IIAS. Between 2006 and 2012, AUP and IIAS published more than thirty books within the multidisciplinary ICAS and IIAS series, including the bestselling title China with a Cut, by Jeroen de Kloet, published in 2009.

The three present collaborative series - Asian Cities, Asian Heritages, and Global Asia - reflect the new scope of the IIAS and complete the AUP Asian Studies Programme.
